Wrench Report
RestoMods Head Mechanic. 20 year classic car mechanic & builder.
A stock-looking dual-snorkel air cleaner hides fuel-injected 502 horsepower under that cowl hood! The 4L80E automatic overdrive puts the power down through a Posi rear end, Hotchkis suspension with coilovers at all four corners keeps the Chevelle sure-footed, and Wilwood discs with Hydroboost bring it to a stop, all with just 1,264 miles since the restoration!
Description
Completed in 2017 as a body-off-frame, nut-and-bolt restoration, this 1972 Chevrolet Chevelle SS-styled Convertible is finished in metallic silver with black SS hood and decklid stripes. Powered by a fuel-injected GM Crate 502ci engine rated at 502 horsepower with aluminum heads and paired with a GM 4L80E four-speed automatic overdrive transmission, this Chevrolet features a Quick Performance 12-bolt Posi rear end, Hotchkis front and rear suspension, Wilwood four-wheel disc brakes with Hydroboost, and Vintage Air. A solid California car, it has been driven 1,264 miles since the restoration was completed, and it is offered with restoration records and on a clean Texas title.

Metallic silver base coat/clear coat covers the body, color sanded and polished, with black SS stripes on the hood and decklid. The cowl hood is supported by Eddie Motorsports billet hood hinges, and a power Stayfast cloth convertible top is fitted. The trunk compartment is custom upholstered to match the interior, with underfloor storage and an LED SS emblem that illuminates the cargo area.

The car rides on custom Foose wheels with Nitto performance radial tires.

Hand-stitched custom leather covers the bucket seats, and the dash is leather wrapped. Bentley cut-pile carpeting and floor mats sit over a thick jute pad, with Hush Mat as a heat and sound barrier. A Vintage Air HVAC system, power windows, remote door locks, and an AM-FM Bluetooth audio system are installed.

A Dakota Digital VHX analog instrumentation cluster faces the driver, and the steering column tilts. The odometer shows 1,264 miles, all of which have been added since the completion of the build.

A stock-appearing dual-snorkel air cleaner, adapted to replace the Ram Jet components for a stock big-block appearance, sits atop the fuel-injected GM Crate 502ci engine, which has aluminum heads and is rated at 502 horsepower.
