Make no mistake, this is not just some random body swap. This is a real 1940 Ford body with VIN intact that has been meticulously customized to fit over a complete 2005 Chevrolet SSR chassis and drivetrain. You can tell a lot went into this build, most notably making the body fit snug around the interior, but also the attention to details like the fully upholstered trunk and the Victory Motorcycle taillights. You're basically getting a super classy silhouette on a modern chassis with modern creature comforts. What more can you ask for out of a restomod?
Description
This custom 1940 Ford Coupe is a one-off restomod built on a complete 2005 Chevrolet SSR chassis and drivetrain. Constructed with an all-steel Ford body, the vehicle was re-engineered by widening the center section over six inches and executing a six-inch chop to the roofline. Showing 6,095 miles on its Chevrolet SSR-sourced powertrain, the car combines classic bodywork with modern GM truck mechanicals and is now offered by the selling dealer with a clean Illinois title.
The exterior is finished in a dual-stage black paint scheme that was wet sanded and buffed during the build process. Body modifications include shaved exterior door handles, deleted trim moldings, rear fenders welded directly to the body, custom-molded Mini Cooper headlights set into the front fenders, and Victory motorcycle taillights integrated into the rear. The custom-fabricated glass is tinted and utilizes rubber-mounted seals without exterior brightwork trim.
The car stands on factory 2005 Chevrolet SSR alloy wheels, measuring 19 inches in the front and 20 inches in the rear, which are wrapped in Goodyear Eagle RS-A tires. The rear trunk compartment is fully upholstered in leather by Twin City Upholstery, featuring a Cadillac-style power cinch latch and a removable floor panel that provides access to the suspension hardware.
The interior incorporates the complete interior layout from a 2005 Chevrolet SSR, including its dashboard, center console, switches, controls, and seating. The red leather bucket seats feature power adjustments and heating elements. Interior equipment includes electronic climate control, cruise control, traction control, power windows, power locks, remote trunk release, and an in-dash DVD stereo head unit.
The driver operates the car via a Chevrolet SSR tilt steering column and steering wheel. The original SSR instrument cluster is integrated into the dashboard, which also houses driver-controlled Ridetech air ride system adjustment controls.
The detailed engine bay houses a 6.0-liter Gen IV LS2 V8 engine sourced from a 2005 Chevrolet SSR, factory-rated at 400 horsepower. The engine remains in stock configuration, fitted with a custom cover. Power is routed through a 4L65E four-speed automatic transmission equipped with an external fluid cooler, leading to a GM 8.6-inch rear axle fitted with 3.73:1 differential gears and a five-link rear suspension arrangement.
The vehicle utilizes a smoothed, painted, and polished 2005 Chevrolet SSR frame. Front suspension is an independent double A-arm configuration, while the rear utilizes the SSR five-link layout. A Ridetech air ride suspension system with adjustable airbags is installed at all four corners. Stopping power is managed by a four-wheel power disc brake system utilizing factory GM anti-lock braking (ABS).

This car was totally taken down to the frame and was sandblasted. Then the frame was painted and buffed out to make sure even the frame shined.
