Wrench Report

By Chris Esparza

RestoMods Head Mechanic. 20 year classic car mechanic & builder.

Firing up the crate LS3 V8 gives you instant sports-car vibes in a classic truck body. I have no doubt you will get a crisp shift response from the 6L80 six-speed through that Lokar shifter, while the full QA1 suspension and Michelin Pilot Sport rubber completely transform how it corners. This truck can go fast in the straights and the turns, and with over $150k invested it's a turnkey pro-touring build that looks, drives, and feels lightyears ahead of anything built in the 1960s.

Description

This custom Chevrolet C10 short-bed restomod is the result of a documented, nut-and-bolt build with over $150,000 invested according to the seller. Powered by a crate GM LS3 6.2-liter V8 paired with a 6L80 six-speed automatic transmission, the pickup combines modern performance engineering with a bare-metal custom body build and refreshed chassis hardware. It is now offered with receipts, build documentation, and a clean California title.

During the build, the body was completely disassembled, stripped to bare metal, and refinished in a red-orange and white two-tone with approximately $33,000 dedicated to body prep and custom paintwork. Exterior trim includes replacement chrome bumpers, clear window glass, bright window surrounds, polished door hardware, and a clean short-bed profile.

The truck rides on 20-inch BC Forged alloy wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport performance tires measuring 275/35 ZR20 in front.

The cabin features a fully redone interior trimmed in premium upholstery with upgraded seat cushioning, fresh carpeting, and matching door panels. Modern interior conveniences include an integrated cordless iPhone charger, power windows, air conditioning, and a tilt steering column.

The driver operates the C10 via an aftermarket steering wheel mounted to the tilt column ahead of a set of Dakota Digital gauges. Transmission control is managed by a floor-mounted Lokar shifter capable of manual tap-shifting or standard automatic gear selection. The odometer displays 4,867 miles since build completion.

The engine bay houses a crate GM LS3 6.2-liter fuel-injected V8 equipped with a C1 serpentine pulley drive system. Exhaust flows through ceramic-coated headers feeding a full stainless-steel dual exhaust system. Power is routed through a 6L80 six-speed automatic transmission with manual shift control to a heavy-duty rear differential assembly.

The chassis benefits from a complete front and rear QA1 adjustable suspension system engineered for sports-car-like handling characteristics. Stopping power is handled by Wilwood power disc brakes at all four corners.
