If you're looking for a Chevelle that can turn heads on the street or the strip, then this one might be your golden ticket! This 468ci big-block beast is raw, unfiltered street-legal drag history reincarnated. I appreciate the decision to build a high-compression '67 block with a brutal .680-lift solid roller cam, 5.13 Dana 60 gears, and massive 16.5-inch wide Mickey Thompson ET Streets. It turns every weekend street cruise or quarter-mile launch into an earth-shaking event.

Description

This custom 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle originally came from the Baltimore, Maryland factory as a Malibu trim 2-door coupe hardtop. It has since been converted into a street/strip machine that started as a roller project acquired in 1988, was completed in 1991, and recently underwent a comprehensive 2023-2024 revival after decades of storage. Powered by a high-compression 468ci big-block Chevrolet V8 paired with a race-prepped TH400 automatic transmission, the build incorporates fabricated lighting, custom cooling, street-legal Mickey Thompson tires, and a Dana 60 rear end. It is now offered by the private seller with a clean Florida title.

The exterior features custom paintwork applied in 1991 over fiberglass front bodywork. Exterior modifications from the recent revival include wheelie bars, custom-fabricated headlights, taillights, and brake lights integrated into the front nose and rear panel, alongside a fabricated inner radiator support frame. Several blemishes and flaws are noted on the paint and bodywork in the photos.

The vehicle rides on polished Cragar SST wheels re-assembled with aviation-grade hardware, measuring 15x3.5 inches up front and 15x12 inches in the rear. Wheels are wrapped in Mickey Thompson Sportsman front tires (28x7.5-15) and Mickey Thompson ET Street rear tires (31x16.5-15).

The cabin features a custom drag-style layout protected by a multi-point roll cage equipped with custom-fabricated swing-out door bars on both sides. Equipment includes an up-to-date driver-side safety harness, high-back fiberglass bucket seating, aluminum floor panels, and an updated wiring harness.

The driver operates the vehicle via a detachable aftermarket sport steering wheel set ahead of a simplified dash layout, with floor-mounted shifter controls managing the transmission valve body.

The engine bay houses a 1967-spec 427ci 4-bolt main block (casting #3904351) bored .060-over with a 4.00-inch stroke to displace 468 cubic inches. Build specs include square-port LS6/Corvette cylinder heads (casting #3994026), Ross high-compression pistons, GM stock connecting rods with SPS bolts, Crane roller lifters, and a solid roller camshaft (.680 lift, 270/282 duration). Supporting hardware includes a custom aluminum radiator with dual electric cooling fans, an alternator conversion, an electric fuel pump, and a replacement 16-gallon fuel cell with updated fuel lines. Power is routed through a Select Performance-built TH400 automatic transmission with a reverse manual valve body and a 9-inch torque converter (5500-5900 rpm stall), leading to a Dana 60 rear end fitted with Strange axles and 5.13:1 differential gears.

The heavy-duty chassis features a complete brake system rebuild with refreshed lines. Steering and suspension components are set up for straight-line stability and street capability.

The following spare parts will be included with the sale:

  1. Rubber SS insert for rear bumper
  2. All stainless trim for the windows and rain gutter trim
  3. A set of SS badges for the fenders
  4. A "Chevelle by Chevrolet" badge for the trunk
  5. A set of "Cowl Induction" badges for the hood
  6. An SS stripe stencil kit
