Wrench Report

By Chris Esparza

RestoMods Head Mechanic. 20 year classic car mechanic & builder.

Few pickups carry a legendary painter's reputation in every coat, and this Cobalt Blue Pearl five-window, believed to be Wet Willey's last complete build, backs it up with a GM 350 crate engine that pairs crate-motor reliability with a classic small-block rumble. The 4L60 automatic and 10-bolt rear carry that power to the pavement with easy shifts, making town cruising and highway runs equally simple. RideTech air ride lets it settle low for the show field and rise for the road, while power four-wheel disc brakes, Riviera bucket seats, and Vintage Air make the trip as comfortable as it is distinctive!

Description

Believed to be the last complete build by House of Kolor Painter of the Year Wet Willey, this 1953 Chevrolet 3100 Five-Window Pickup is a custom hot rod finished in Cobalt Blue Pearl. Powered by a GM 350 crate engine and paired with a 4L60 automatic transmission, this Chevrolet is equipped with a RideTech air ride suspension, a 10-bolt rear differential, power four-wheel disc brakes, and Vintage Air heat and air conditioning. A 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air dashboard has been integrated into the cab, and 1965 Buick Riviera bucket seats complete the custom interior. It is offered with a body-color-matching tool box and a clean title.

Wet Willey personally sprayed the House of Kolor Cobalt Blue Pearl that covers the body. Body modifications include a custom-painted bed with capped bed rails, a smoothed hood, and a Fulton sun visor above the windshield of the five-window cab.

The truck rides on a set of stagged-width Sumitomo tires over one-of-a-kind custom wheels measuring 17 inches in front and 20 inches in the rear.

Two 1965 Buick Riviera bucket seats upholstered in black vinyl anchor the cab, joined by a matching center console. Vintage Air heating and air conditioning is installed for year-round use.

A 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air dashboard, integrated into the cab, sits ahead of a tilt steering wheel and Dolphin gauges.

Beneath the smoothed hood sits a GM 350 crate engine, with a 4L60 automatic transmission behind it and a 10-bolt rear differential delivering power to the rear wheels.

RideTech air ride suspension supports the chassis, and power disc brakes at all four corners handle stopping.
