If you want a classic ride that you can pack 2 families in or your entire friend group, then this is the one you want! The LA V8 looks great, and the unibody floorboards, Chrysler 8¾-inch rear end, and upgraded four-wheel disc brake system reveal a well-sorted chassis designed for comfortable nine-passenger cruising.

Description

This 1962 Dodge Dart 440 is a three-seat, nine-passenger station wagon powered by a 318ci LA small block V8 engine paired with a TorqueFlite push-button three-speed automatic transmission. One of 7,421 three-seat wagons produced for the 1962 model year, this Dodge Dart 440 features a rear-facing third-row seat, a Chrysler 8¾-inch rear end, and upgraded four-wheel power disc brakes. It is now offered by the selling dealer with an owner's manual and a clean Pennsylvania title.

The steel body is refinished in Powder Blue paint, set off by quad headlights, a full-width front grille, chrome front and rear bumpers, dual side mirrors, and full-length side trim moldings. Additional exterior hardware includes a power-operated rear tailgate window.

The wagon rides on factory-style steel wheels with correct-style wheel covers fitted with BFGoodrich Radial T/A raised-white-letter tires.

The cabin features three rows of bench seating upholstered in Medium Blue vinyl, paired with color-matched door panels, dark blue carpeting, and a painted dashboard. Interior features include a folding second-row seat, a rear-facing third-row seat, manual crank side windows, and a heater/defroster unit.

The interior also features a two-tone steering wheel set ahead of a padded dashboard housing factory instrumentation including a 120-mph speedometer and auxiliary gauges. Dash-mounted push-buttons manage the three-speed automatic transmission.

The engine bay houses an LA small block V8 engine equipped with a two-barrel carburetor, an Edelbrock air cleaner assembly, cast-iron exhaust manifolds, and a dual exhaust system with an H-pipe. Engine cooling is supported by an aluminum radiator. Power is routed through a TorqueFlite push-button three-speed automatic transmission to a Chrysler 8¾-inch rear axle.

The unibody chassis utilizes a torsion-bar front suspension setup and a leaf-sprung rear axle, supported by power steering hardware. Stopping power is provided by an upgraded four-wheel disc brake system.

Thank you for doing that. Is there a chance I could speak to someone first? Have a couple of questions before making decision. Thanks

Casting Number - 4006730 -318 -12 Build Date 1976

MoparMorris Oct 20, 3:14 pm PDT
That is a very low performance year for the 318. Do you know if it has been rebuilt for performance? Any spec sheets, etc? Thank you so much!
AffordableClassicsInc Seller Oct 23, 10:29 am PDT
Edelbrock Performer Intake - AVS2 Carb - The 318 Seems to be mildly built

Where in Pa did this car come from and how long ago?

AffordableClassicsInc Seller Oct 20, 2:11 pm PDT
Unsure where it Originally Came from . We bought the car In Reno , NV.
MoparMorris Bidder • Oct 19, 10:13 am PDT

Does not look like a poly 318....can someone get a serial number to establish a date code?

AffordableClassicsInc Seller Oct 19, 10:15 am PDT
Absolutely! We’ll get some additional photos of the valve covers, along with the engine casting numbers, posted shortly to help verify the engine.
evansbros Oct 19, 11:16 am PDT
They added pics , it is NOT a Poly 318 , but an LA engine , so the engine (if it's a 318 ) is a 1968 or newer engine . Nothing wrong with the '68 and up 318 , but it is important to know what they are bidding on .
MoparMorris Oct 19, 1:07 pm PDT
100% CORRECT. I have noticed that Mopar knowledge is usually the least out of the big three on most auction sites.

Can you show a side pic of the valve covers ? The pics are hard to see the valve cover shape . I think it is a '68 and up 318 LA engine , but the ad says Poly 318 .

AffordableClassicsInc Seller Oct 19, 10:14 am PDT
Absolutely! We’ll get some additional side-view photos of the valve covers posted shortly so you can get a better look at their shape and help confirm the engine type. Thanks for pointing that out!
evansbros Oct 19, 11:16 am PDT
Thanks , the side shot confirms it is NOT a Poly 318 , but an LA small block . If it is a 318 , it is 1968 or newer .
