Wrench Report

By Chris Esparza

RestoMods Head Mechanic. 20 year classic car mechanic & builder.

Settling into those power leather buckets and grabbing the woodgrain wheel reveals a C10 that balances low-slung, smooth-roll-pan attitude with dead-reliable crate 350 V8 power. Lowered all around over 17-inch Centerline-style wheels and blowing cold Old Air climate control, this frame-off built '69 cruiser turns every quick hardware run or weekend meet into a high-style event.

Description

This 1969 Chevrolet C10 pickup completed a frame-off body rebuild approximately eight years ago. Built on a blasted and coated chassis with new cab mounts and bushings, the truck features a lowered stance, a crate 350ci V8, upgraded air conditioning, and refined interior appointments. It is now offered with a clean Missouri title and includes receipts for work done on the truck.

The exterior features eight-year-old driver-quality paintwork over a custom rear-end configuration where the factory bumper was deleted in favor of a smooth rear roll pan.

Additional exterior details include replacement door glass, a replacement windshield, new weatherstripping, rebuilt door hinges, and a spray-in bedliner showing light scuffs inside the bed and tailgate. The seller notes that the original rear window remains installed with minor cosmetic blemishes.

The truck sits on vintage 15-inch Centerline-style alloy wheels fitted with Cooper Evolution radial tires, measuring in a squared 265/75R15 setup.

The cabin features modern leather bucket seats with power adjustments for the driver, accompanied by replacement carpeting, door armrests, and a replacement dash pad. Interior amenities include an Old Air Products heating and air conditioning system.

The driver operates the truck via a woodgrain aftermarket steering wheel on an aftermarket tilt steering column facing a calibrated speedometer, a factory fuel gauge, an oil pressure gauge, and an added auxiliary temperature gauge. A B&M automatic transmission shifter is fitted to the floor.

The engine bay houses a 350ci V8 crate engine topped with an aluminum intake manifold and custom valve covers. Cooling is managed by an aftermarket aluminum radiator assisted by both a mechanical engine-driven fan and an auxiliary electric cooling fan. All belt-driven accessories, including the starter, alternator, water pump, and power steering pump, were replaced during the build. Power is sent through a TH350 three-speed automatic transmission fitted with a mild shift kit, leading to a custom heavy-duty one-piece driveshaft (replacing the stock two-piece unit) and a Blazer-style fuel tank relocated under the rear bed floor. Output is delivered to a stock rear differential equipped with 3.73:1 open gears.

The chassis utilizes replacement front suspension components along with lowered front and rear springs and matching shocks. Power-assisted steering reduces turning effort, while stopping power is provided by a fully overhauled four-wheel power drum brake system. Exhaust is handled through a dual exhaust system fitted with Flowmaster-style mufflers.

Thanks! It’s a very solid and comfortable driver. I built it to use.
